Cellebrite has released a maintenance version of UFED Touch2, UFED Touch, UFED 4PC, UFED InField, UFED Physical Analyzer, UFED Logical Analyzer and UFED Reader 6.2.1.
UFED Physical Analyzer, UFED Logical Analyzer and UFED Reader 6.2.1 now support decoding of the new SMS Rich Communication Services (RCS) format. Google and other Android device manufacturers have introduced support for a new protocol, allowing for rich SMS messaging, called RCS. Using this protocol, users can send SMS to group chats and transfer files via the GSM network. The new version, 6.2.1, now supports SMS RCS decoding for Samsung and LG Android devices. Cellebrite will support more vendors in future releases as each vendor modifies the mmssms.db differently, storing the new SMSs.
Version 6.2.1 includes the following updates:
Microsoft security updates – Following Microsoft’s announcement of Critical Security Bulletin MS17-010, Cellebrite urges customers to install the available Microsoft security update on UFED Touch / UFED Touch2 / UFED InField Kiosk platforms (prioritizing platforms that require a network connection). Version 6.2.1 integrates the security updates as part of the installation.
File System Android Backup extraction of devices running OS 7 or above can now be successfully decoded.
An incorrect message related to apps data that appears at the end of a logical extraction of an Android devices running OS 7 or above has now been resolved.
A hash verification failure issue of ufdx files has been resolved.
